How to disable automatic download of apps from iPhone to Apple Watch
As of now, there is no native support for apps on Apple Watch which means all of the apps need a companion app on the paired iPhone to be able to work with. For example, Shazam app on Apple Watch utilises the microphone on the iPhone to listen to and find the song even though the Apple Watch has a built in microphone as well. This also means to say that there are no standalone apps for Apple Watch. So if a developer has created an Apple Watch app along with the iPhone app, the same would be listed on the App Store and get downloaded to the iPhone in question. But since many apps are now getting ported over to the watch, it can get quite cumbersome if all of them automatically download on the watch too even when you don't want to use them. Moreover they all eat up a little portion of the watch's internal 8 GB storage too. Thankfully, Apple provides a setting to disable these automatic downloads and gives granular control over each available app that you want to port. The following steps will show you how to disable automatic downloads of apps from iPhone to Apple Watch and also how to install individual apps later.

Go to the home screen of the iPhone with which you have paired the Apple Watch and locate the Apple Watch app.
