Apple's upcoming iOS 10 happens to save iPhone's storage
Apple's upcoming iOS 10, which is slated for a launch this fall seems to be saving a lot of storage space on iPhones. A Reddit user claims the storage capacity of his iPhone increased by a whopping 8 GB. His 128 GB iPhone 6S now had 121 GB as compared to 113 GB when on some version of iOS 9. Even iPhones with lower capacities of 64 GB and 16 GB are showing substantial increase in the storage metrics after an upgrade to iOS 10. The 64 GB now shows 58.8 GB as total memory available while the 16 GB version shows 13.1 GB as total memory available.
This happens to be one of these things that Apple did not reveal during the WWDC 2016 keynote along with many other new features that users who have downloaded and installed the beta versions are now reporting on forums and blogs. Apple has received a lot of consumer flak the last few years for continuing with the 16 GB iPhone but upgrading to iOS 10 might seem like a bit of reprieve for a few users who purchased the 16 GB version but now have run out of storage.
