Xiaomi launches 6.44 inch smartphone Mi Max in India starting from Rs. 14999
In an event that saw a lot of confusion and a bit of ruckus created by Xiaomi fans who could not get entry into the main gates for lack of space inside, the company finally managed to settle everyone down after taking a little help from the cops and managed to launch their giant sized smartphone called Mi Max in India. Xiaomi Vice President Hugo Barra took the stage to announce the 6.44 inch smartphone and for the first time seemed in a bit of hurry to announce everything on stage as he kept switching to the next slide even before the information for the slide preceding it was completed. For the first time, Hugo did not seem his natural confident self perhaps because of the happenings or shall we say mishappenings just before the event. However, he did manage to entice the crowd and had a lot of them cheering when he announced the price. The smartphone starts at an incredible price of Rs. 14999 for 3 GB RAM and 32 GB Internal memory version sporting Snapdragon 650 processor.

The operating system hosts a variety of new features like Dual apps, Second space, Scrolling screenshots, Quick ball and T9 dialer with Hindi search. Some of these features look new but a lot of them seem inspired from other brands for example Second space seems to have been picked from Coolpad Max that was released just a few weeks back while Scrolling screenshots is a normal feature found on Samsung Note series phones. Even though the event was marred by some unruly occurrences, we were impressed with the price of Mi Max and at Rs. 14999, it does seem like a bit of a steal. At this price, there is a lot going for the phone rather than against it. However, we would let you know our reviews when we are able to get hold of the units.
