Samsung drops price of Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge in India by Rs. 5000
Mumbai retailer Mahesh Telecom reports that Samsung has reduced the prices of Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge by Rs. 5000 each. Galaxy S7, which carried a price tag of Rs. 48900 at launch is now selling for Rs. 43900 while the Galaxy S7 Edge gets a price cut from Rs. 56900 to Rs. 50900. All the prices refer to the 32 GB variants of the phone that got launched in India. Samsung did not unveil variants with higher internal storage in the country.
As for the specifications of the devices, both feature similar specs except for the curved edges as well as a larger sized display on Galaxy S7 Edge and a few minor differences. Galaxy S7 carries a 5.1 inch display while S7 Edge sports a 5.5 inch one. S7 weighs in at 152 grams while S7 Edge is 5 grams heavier. The battery capacity is also higher on S7 Edge at 3600 mAh to cater to the higher demands of the edge screen. The battery capacity of S7 is 3000 mAh.
Samsung has very recently launched Galaxy Note 7 which is again getting good reviews like the above mentioned flagships. Galaxy Note 7 also receives similar specs as S7 and S7 Edge but of course, has additional features and functionality of S-pen.
The price drop would entice even more consumers to buy the two premium smartphones which have already been selling very well in the Indian market. The cut would further cement Samsung's position as the world's leading brand of smartphones.
