Honor launches dual camera smartphone Honor 6X in India for a price of Rs. 12999
Honor, Huawei's online smartphone sub-brand has today launched its much touted 6X swag smartphone in India. The device follows the two most popular buzzwords of today, a dual lens camera and an affordable price. The smartphone has been aggressively priced at Rs. 12999 for the variant carrying 3 GB RAM and 32 GB ROM. Another variant with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB ROM would retail for Rs. 15999. The 3 GB version would be available exclusively on Amazon.in for which the registration begins today and goes on till 31st January. The first flash sale occurs on 2nd February. The device would directly compete with Coolpad Cool 1 and Xiaomi's latest offering, Redmi Note 4. Honor 6X was launched in CES 2017 and had a lot of liking from foreign delegates.
In terms of specifications, Honor 6X sports a 5.5 inch Full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The full metal body has 2.5D glass atop and a curved panel at the back. The internals are backed by an Octa core Kirin 655 SoC where 4 cores are clocked at 2.1 GHz and the remaining 4 at 1.7 GHz. There is an additional i5 co-processor to boot though we don't have much information as to what exactly this co-processor does. The phone also features Honor's Smart File System which would supposedly prevent fragmentation and performance degradation in the long run.
The brand that led its way into dual lens camera systems on its smartphones with the legendary Huawei P9 and Honor 8 now moves ahead and offers dual camera capability on an entry level smartphone as well. The two cameras carry a resolution of 12 Megapixels and 2 Megapixels but the underlying technology differs from the one that Huawei P9 supported. While the two cameras on P9 captured individual RGB and monochrome images, here the 12 MP camera captures images composition while the other 2 MP camera captures depth of field information thereby allowing for some spectacular bokeh shots, something that has become another buzzword in the smartphone industry today after Apple introduced the same in iPhone 7 Plus. However, we should remember the price difference between Apple's offering and Honor 6X and additionally, Honor 6X supports touch to blur as well as the ability to configure the amount of blur, both of which the iPhone misses out on.
Honor 6X is backed by a 3340 mAh battery which might seem a bit lesser than the Cool 1 and Redmi Note 4 on paper, but the brand claims it provides longer battery life than the competition. There is Honor proprietary 5V/2A fast charging option available to juice up the device extremely quickly. There is also a third generation fingerprint sensor to boot which would be able to unlock the device in 0.3 seconds. The phone comes with a 1 year + 3 month warranty and a touch screen replacement in the first month. There are 3 colors the device would boast of, gold, silver and gray.
Its highly pleasing to see brands bringing premium features to entry level devices which opens up the market manifold and gives the consumers wonderful choices to pick up smartphones from. The dual camera feature is going to be a hot sell this season and we are sure to see a lot of updates and upgrades in dual camera features as time progresses, another thing which should keep you excited all year round as a smartphone consumer.
