Apple manufacturer claims upcoming iPhone 8 will have wireless charging
Apple has been playing catch up with Android when it comes to a few features like wireless charging. But now, one of the company's suppliers has confirmed that wireless charging would indeed be an integral part of the next generation of iPhones.
Taiwanese iPhone supplier Wistron's chief executive Robert Hwang said, "Assembly process for the previous generations of [iPhones] have not changed much, though new features like waterproof and wireless charging now require some different testing, and waterproof function will alter the assembly process a bit."
This reiterates the claim made by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo from KGI Securities in February, according to which the three new iPhones going to be launched later this year would all incorporate wireless charging by switching to a glass back design. This would mean that even the modestly updated iPhone 7S and iPhone 7S Plus would also get this new feature.
You would no longer be needing to look around for a power outlet in case the wireless charging actually appears on these new iPhones. Rumors regarding the glass back of the upcoming iPhone have been making the rounds which adds further weightage to the claim by the Apple manufacturer.
