OnePlus 5 registrations in China garner huge footfall
OnePlus has opened registrations for its upcoming flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 5 in China and is getting huge interest in the country. Registrations are open on Chinese portal JD.com. The phone is slated to release globally on June 20th while it would make way to Indian shores on June 22nd. As per a report on NDTV Gadgets, around 1.10 lakh people have registered for the new phone. As of the time of writing this, the number has gone up to 1.41 lakhs. It has also been recently reported that OnePlus 5 would be available in open sale without an invite system.
An Amazon ad in India recently revealed OnePlus 5 specifications. It would be powered by a 2.35 GHz Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. It would be available in 2 variants, the first one with 6 GB RAM and 64 GB internal memory while the other one would have 8 GB RAM and 128 GB internal memory. The prices leaked for these 2 devices are Rs. 32999 and Rs. 37999 respectively. Both the variants would feature a 5.5 inch QHD display running at a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels.
The smartphone's latest pictures on its official Facebook page show that it features a dual camera lens. And it sure does make the OnePlus 5 look a lot like the iPhone 7 Plus, at least from the back. It remains to be seen how the company manages to use the dual camera setup on the back though.
OnePlus 5 should sport a 4000 mAh battery to power the device. The new flagship phone will run on Android 7.1 Nougat. And since the company has very recently promised Android O update for OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T, the OnePlus 5 would also be moved over to Android O within a short span of time.
