OnePlus 5 registrations now cross mammoth 500000 number on China's JD.com
OnePlus 5 registrations on Chinese website JD.com have crossed an unprecedented 500000 in number. Just yesterday, we had reported how it had touched the glorious 400000 mark. The interest around the phone is strengthening by the minute. And as more people are registering, the excitement around the new flagship launch is building up all the more. OnePlus is launching the OnePlus 5 smartphone on June 20th globally and on June 22nd in India.
The anticipation around OnePlus 5 makes us think how much it could end up being a hit or a miss, so much so that it can cost the company its entire brand value in case the phone does not succeed or if it does as well as the previously launched OnePlus 3 and 3T, it would go mind numbingly higher on the popularity charts. Moreover this time around the phone would be available in open sale without an invite system which should mean even greater interest in OnePlus 5 once it launches.
To recap, OnePlus 5 features a 2.35 GHz Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. It would be released in 2 variants, the first one with 6 GB RAM and 64 GB internal memory and the other one with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB internal memory. The Indian prices leaked for these 2 models are Rs. 32999 and Rs. 37999 respectively which may or may not change on the announcement date. Both these variants would feature a 5.5 inch QHD display running at a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels.
The smartphone should pack in a 3300 mAh battery to power the device along with Dash Charge 2.0 technology for fast charging. The new flagship phone will be based on Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box. The OnePlus 5 is expected to be updated over to Android O within a short period of time.
The smartphone would feature a dual camera lens with both cameras sporting a 16 Megapixel resolution. The dual camera system does make the device look like the iPhone 7 Plus. It remains to be seen how the company manages to use the dual camera setup on the back though as it is not clear whether the combination used would be RGB color plus monochrome, regular plus wide angle lens, regular plus telephoto lens or some other unique innovative combination that the camera developers might have proposed. OnePlus is also working in tandem with DxO Mark to enhance image capture quality on OnePlus 5. The company has been sharing photo samples on its official social media accounts regularly. And just yesterday, CEO Pete Lau shared beautiful sunrise images on Weibo. These images do show stunning camera quality.
If the number of registrations is any indication, people are investing oodles of loyalty and trust in the brand and also the upcoming phone. We hope OnePlus is able to carry it off well and give the people a premium phone in return for this very trust.
