OnePlus 5 skyrockets to 550000 registrations on Chinese website JD.com
OnePlus 5 pre-registrations on Chinese website JD.com have skyrocketed to 550000. Just yesterday it had touched and crossed 500000. The number gives a glaring insight into the soaring popularity of the brand and the sheer intensity with which people are waiting for the upcoming OnePlus 5. The phone is launching tomorrow globally and would reach Indian shores on June 22nd. The numbers are mind boggling and are accelerating all the more as the launch date nears. To add to the excitement, OnePlus has already confirmed that it would sell the phone without an invite system this time around.
As you might already know by now, OnePlus 5 gets powered by a 2.35 GHz Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. It would be released in 2 variants, the first one with 6 GB RAM and 64 GB internal memory and the other one with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB internal memory. The Indian prices leaked for these 2 models are Rs. 32999 and Rs. 37999 respectively which may or may not get a revision on the launch date. Both these variants would sport a 5.5 inch QHD display running at a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels.
The smartphone would feature a dual camera setup with both cameras sporting a 16 Megapixel resolution. The dual camera system does make the device look a lot like the iPhone 7 Plus. It remains to be seen how the company manages to use the dual camera setup on the back though as it is not clear whether the combination used would be RGB color plus monochrome, regular plus wide angle lens, regular plus telephoto lens or some other unique innovative combination that the camera developers might have proposed. OnePlus is also working in tandem with DxO Mark to enhance image capture quality on OnePlus 5. The company has been continuously sharing photo samples on its official social media accounts. And just day before yesterday, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau shared beautiful sunrise images on Weibo. These images do reveal high dynamic range.
OnePlus 5 would be powered by a 3300 mAh battery along with Dash Charge 2.0 technology for super fast charging. The new flagship phone will run on Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box and is expected to be updated over to Android O in the coming future.
OnePlus has already shown the entire design of the phone in a new commercial that started going on air yesterday. The front of the phone retains the design from the previous OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T while the back does look similar to Oppo R11 and Apple iPhone 7 Plus. We hope the brand has made enough modifications to the internals as well as to the user interface so that end users do get some feeling of novelty as the external design does seem to be inspired from models of other companies. Anyways, OnePlus is known to make premium quality phones and the OnePlus 5 should be no exception whatsoever.
