Logitech To Launch Pro Webcam for Apple’s Pro Display XDR By January 2020

4K Pro Magnetic Webcam

Apple’s new $4,999 Pro Display XDR is well-equipped with many fascinating features and high-end specifications, but one thing it lacks is an inbuild webcam for making video calls. However, Logitech has come up with a great solution to this problem. With its new 4K Pro Magnetic Webcam, Logitech has filled the void on the specification sheet for Apple’s new display. This $199.99 accessory is specially developed to enable video calling with Apple’s new display.

As the name indicates, this webcam can be fitted to your display monitor without any clips or other mounts. It gets magnetically attached to the display with the help of a stand designed to perfectly fit the monitor. The magnet which is meant to catch hold of the display is sufficiently strong and stays attached even if you rotate the screen in any angle or in a portrait mode. Also, the device can be tilted up and down, and hence you can shoot with a perfect pose for your next video chat.  The device is designed using RightLight 3 technology which automatically regulates lighting to suit your situation. On the other hand, the company has made available a Logitech Camera Settings app which lets you customize and adjust color intensity, brightness, contrast, etc. to make you look perfect on camera. Though the device is a bit higher on the price, it is worth buying for Apple’s Pro Display XDR.

The webcam supports video-conferencing apps including FaceTime, Zoom and Skype. Several technological developments and new product launches in the webcam industry is expected to boost the global market size of webcams in the next few years, says a report by Big Market Research. Additionally, the growing necessity of workplace communication with colleagues and professionals from distant locations is fueling the demand for webcams all across the world. Apart from Logitech, there are many market player’s dominating the webcam industry some of them are Microsoft, Hp, D-Link, Lenovo, and Philips.

Moving on to the technical specs of the device, Logitech said that the 4K Pro Magnetic Webcam is equipped with 4K video streams and has two integrated microphones with noise cancellation. This device is connected to the display and the computer with a USB-C to USB-C cable which is provided along with the device.  In order to match the rest of your setup, the device is designed by keeping in mind the Apple-esque anodized aluminum finish.

Logitech’s 4K Pro Magnetic Webcam is likely to be released sometime in January 2020. However, it is now available for preorder from Logitech’s website. It seems a little strange that Apple didn’t provide a webcam in the Pro Display XDR, but the company’s main purpose behind this $5,000 monitor is to offer professional services for film editors, photographers, and rendering suites, and hence, it mainly focuses on visual performance for this product.
